And they nobody even cares about racism when it's in "reverse". Look at reddits policy towards hate, they specifically carved out an exemption where hate directed to CIS white males is acceptable.
- mensetmanusman 5y agoThis is painfully true but also hard to discuss. Similarly, different musical verses are being censored for one reason (abuse against some subset of gender), but not for another (violence against women). Interesting times indeed…
- smhenderson 5y agothey specifically carved out an exemption where hate directed to CIS white males is acceptable. Do you have a link to a policy or some other written statement that this is the case? I find this difficult to believe without further information on what you are referring to.

The carve-out is the phrase "marginalized or vulnerable".
- smhenderson 5y agoOK, and I see they worded that in line with typical hate crime laws found in a number of developed countries. Do you not think the first item on the list applies to everyone though? Harassment Harassing, bullying, threatening, intimidating, or abusing someone with the intent to create a hostile environment or discourage them from participating on Reddit.
- zo1 5y agoIt's very sad that it's not more widely known or published. If this was in the reverse, there would be huge boycott campaigns and media-backed outrage programs playing in repeating cycles till the CEO was fired and Reddit dismantled. And yet still we're told that there is rampant systemic racism against non-white people being enacted and coordinated by white people, while at the same time anti-white racism and legislation is alive and kicking right under our noses with nobody caring (and those that are noticing and caring are being shrugged off and punished for being Fox News watching right-wing nationalist nut jobs or something). It's really Kafkaesque.

- SpicyLemonZest 5y agoReddit's hate speech policy used to explicitly stipulate that "the rule does not protect groups of people who are in the majority" (https://fsi.stanford.edu/news/reddit-hate-speech https://fsi.stanford.edu/news/reddit-hate-speech). They've since edited the policy to remove that line, but they haven't given any indication that they've changed their mind on it.
- zo1 5y agoOr how about government legislation enforcing and pushing it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broad-Based_Black_Economic_Empowerment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broad-Based_Black_Economic_Emp... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Economic_Empowerment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Economic_Empowerment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action_in_the_United_States https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action_in_the_Unit...
- LightG 5y agoMe: today, I ate apples. Oranges: ... and I took that personally ... next, I started posting about it on Hacker News ... next week, I'll begin a poltical campaign about it. Do you really think that implies "hate directed to CIS white males is acceptable."? ... absolutely bizarre. @Dang. Kill me now. I'm done.
