What part of harrassment and racism is meant to be conversational? You are still free to be an asshole. Twitter just wishes you'd do it elsewhere.

You are still free to be an asshole. Twitter just wishes you'd do it elsewhere.
- nsizx 5y agoIf Twitter wishes assholes stopped posting on their site they should just close shop immediately.
- hef19898 5y agoSame for any other social media platform. I for sure wouldn't miss them. Not gonna happen, so. I used to think we will figure out social media, after all we figured out mass media as well. I'm not sure anymore that I'll like the process of us figuring it out...
- yardie 5y agoTwitter has to do no such thing. You agreed to a TOS when you signed up. You violated it. Goodbye. Assholes shouldn't sign up for Twitter knowing they'll be kicked off.
- SpicyLemonZest 5y agoDoes anyone on Twitter really support that, though? There are some small niches where people are consistently nice, but in general it seems like snarky, mean-spirited takes are a big part of what people go to Twitter for.
- AutumnCurtain 5y agoI've found said assholes have an attitude that they are entitled to platforms and it's incumbent on everyone else to go out of their way to avoid them. Farcical, but they will scream and cry when the idea is challenged.
- pyronik19 5y agoI've found these platforms are fine with assholes, they just pick and choose whos assholes are acceptable based on political preference..
- dylan604 5y agoWhy not put these accounts into shadow ban mode? Allow them to post to their hearts desire, but just have the algorithm never display their posts to anyone. They get to feel that sweet endorphine release from posting their minds, just the rest of us don't ever have to see it.
- dspillett 5y ago> Twitter just wishes you'd do it elsewhere. Unless you are an arsehole with power and/or influence. Like a certain harassing racist who had a lot of power for about four years recently. (yes, I know they dropped that one eventually, how brave of Twitter and their ilk to do so once he no longer had significant chance to take retaliatory action)
- yardie 5y agoIt was a very fine needle Twitter needed to thread and apparently they could not do it. In my mind the best way would be to ban politicians from posting political opinions. This would not only ban DJT, but AOC, Pelosi, MJT as well. It took DJT to be politically neutralized after losing the election for them to have the fortitude to do what was necessary. When he went from being a controversial asset to the platform to a controversial liability.
