- pbhjpbhj 15y agoAs an aside I tried XFCE the other day wanting to squeeze the last bit of performance out of my old comp, that normally runs KDE4. I was quite surprised to find that KDE was ever so slightly snappier - all I do is run FF, TB and libreOffice (occasionally). I ran the default theme on both.
- w1ntermute 15y agoIf that's your only complaint, the desktop effects can be easily disabled.
- sjs 15y agoSounds like he's happy w/ xfce anyway. I'm not sure why he felt compelled to let us all know he wasn't switching. Eventful, to be sure.
- moondowner 15y agoYes, desktop effects can be easily disabled, or modified which one to be enabled, System Settings -> Desktop Effects. And, the default theme 'Air' can be easily changed too, System Settings -> Workspace Appearance. Screenshot for both: http://freedupthoughts.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/kde-system-settings.png http://freedupthoughts.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/kde-syste... It's sad to see users choosing desktop environments based on factors like looks, not features/functionality/etc...
