I think it's a good move, but I think it would be better if they were more open about why this is happening. I think they need to explain that this is the first step in a larger move to fix their culture, and what the next steps are. They need to differentiate between "We screwed up, something is wrong, and it's time for real change" vs "We have applied lipstick to the pig, now please go away".

> why this is happening They hope that the emotions get attached to the person fired so the company can get rid of it. I don't think there is any information who has done what, so someone has to go. Severance will probably make for a soft landing.
