Murdoch is the poster child for influencing media he owns to get deals out of politicians generating outsized returns. For masthead newspapers they don't even need to make a profit. I believe the Australian newspaper never has in decades of history while Murdoch made a ton of money in Australia. It seems Bezos watched, learned and bought the wapo.
