I wonder how they got busted?
- HomeDeLaPot 5y agoThat would be interesting to know. A less-than-gruntled employee? Some sort of third-party audit? A hack or leak?
- madengr 5y agoI know of one very expensive CAD tool that phones home. They know exactly how many people are using pirated copies, but they say it’s better than using pirated copies of their competitors product. I’ll wager fines and restitution were still less than the licensing fees, so it may still be a net money saver.
- joezydeco 5y agoThere are rumors going around the electronics world that PCB houses are being paid by Altium to inform them if they get a CAD file generated by a cracked copy of their software. So it's not always a hack or leak, it's just money talking.
