Swarm, the satellite connectivity company, debuts $499 evaluation kit
- samdebrule 5y agoHave been tracking this coming for a while. Fascinating to see them move into consumer space. The article mentions “hobbyist weather trackers” as one group of potential users. What are some of the other ideal use cases?
- rfvirtuoso 5y agoThis connectivity kit will be awesome for my global drifting buoy project. I will be able to communicate two ways with the buoys anywhere in the world.
- jonahjamison 5y agoThis is the future! Can’t wait to get started with this kit.

- RockLee0427 5y agoReally? What makes you think that?
- rfvirtuoso 5y agoHow else can I send data from the middle of nowhere for $5?
- giants2001 5y agoCan’t wait to get a kit!
- donspangelo 5y agoJust awesome!
- joepower 5y agoPower the everyday joe - anywhere!
- nairbp 5y agoFantastic opportunity to connect at very affordable cost!
- senegalcrusader 5y agoThis is interesting. Curious to know how much data can be transferred.
- Farfromthehood 5y agoBit rate1 kbps Maximum packet size is 192 bytes
- RWoerfel 5y agoLooks good, holistically and economically thought out
- kylixz 5y agoI’ve had the opportunity to work with some of swarms kit. It is unique — competes with other low-bandwidth satcom solutions but at a low cost and very low power. I think there is a need for their modems, particularly in the IoT space with long-running very remote devices which they fit very nicely. Good luck to them!
- tsizzle100 5y agoCan’t wait to get one myself!
- GreenGoldKing 5y agoThe kit looks amazing. I'm sending their website to my avocado farmers. I think they would benefit from their other product, The Tile, so they can finally optimize their crop watering cycles inexpensively.
- solarkraft 5y agoThe Tile seems especially cool due to its price. What justifies the price difference between it and the evaluation kit? Regardless: This is cool. I can imagine it being used on LoRaWAN gateways.
