Tesla silently charges $14k when activating Autopilot on non-enabled vehicle
- cunidev 5y agoFor the sake of completeness, the issue was later "fixed" by the company in the form of a refund https://twitter.com/deesix/status/1420433764002373636 https://twitter.com/deesix/status/1420433764002373636 The story is published by a trusted, verified person, yet no screenshots were attached.
- dekhn 5y agoI like how somebody called it "BS" in a tweet reply, but that it occurred was later verified (they were able to cancel it). The tesla fans are a bit overboard.
- chovybizzass 5y agoso its $14k to toggle a boolean? wow. if that's not the most efficient profitable piece of code ever written I don't know what is.
- AgentK20 5y agoWould love to see if this is actually a thing (already have purchased the package for my M3, otherwise I'd go test it myself). If so, it should be changed, but I can't imagine this is actually how it works as we would have heard of numerous incidents of this occurring accidentally (unless this is a recent change on Tesla's part).
- arkitaip 5y agoThis was solved by Tesla but I'm curious to know if any car brand has in-car purchases, particularly of functionality?
