AI and Robots Are a Minefield of Cognitive Biases
- raxxorrax 5y agoI think criticism with the argument of bias often falls flat. I think AI and robots actually will show us much about our own biases. There is the criticism that any data set collected by humans will reflect our biases and that criticism is valid depending on the data. But I think machines will still be quite apt at identifying our blindspots, so there is much potential here. Aside from that I share the fears the author has about possible developments in overemphasized trust in AI. You model can be as sophisticated as your imagination allows but it will remain an approximation of reality. This simplification can be dangerous since it might hide important factors whose influence isn't intuitive but still relevant.
