Couldn't get past "which for simplicity we can call the radical feminist view," in the third paragraph. Truly cringe-worthy to read in today's context (at least the cultural context I live in).
- raxxorrax 5y agoI don't think there were severe barriers to self expression 15 years ago and I think we now have them with some form of gender orthodoxy, although it is far more pronounced on the net than in reality. But the contrast is pretty large. Don't know what should be considered "cringe".
- speeder 5y agoThe author is feminist herself, and seemly her views match with that. The raeson she used "radical feminist view" seemly is to separate it from current "mainstream feminism". Then she goes on and on explaining the logical errors of the current view, and reach the conclusion that the "radical" view is actually correct. I don't agree with her on that (I think she found the logical errors, and wrote a good article, but I disagree with her conclusion), but that is what she meant anyway. Also her target readers are feminist themselves, there is no need to anything there be cringeworthy, it is a feminist telling other feminists why one of their beliefs might be wrong.
