I feel like this is obvious but maybe not to a 22 year old. It’s like saying that 4 graduates of the MFA program are working novelists, or 4 graduates from Alabama this year are going into the NFL. The careers where your work is distributed to millions of people have a huge gap between public awareness of the profession and the number of jobs available in it, because each producer serves millions of consumers.
These days, you should only go to film school if you have an active YouTube following... if you don’t already have the drive and the skill to create video and market it, you don’t even have a chance of surviving.
- georgeecollins 5y agoThe people with an active YouTube following are exactly who doesn't need to go to Film School. They can entertain people with their craft. People in film / TV are as likely to hire a successful YouTuber as any MFA.

There's a degree of success where the degree probably makes no marginal benefit, but, especially unless you want to do almost exactly the same thing as you are already doing with the YouTube channel in a very similar medium, its probably not just “has an active YouTube following”.
