Biden admin to work with SMS carriers to dispel vaccine misinformation in texts
- version_five 5y agoI read this worrying that SMS traffic would somehow be censored, but this seems not to be the case. I don't disagree with a campaign to make sure people know what their options are. The main problem, like most things is the political element. Give people information and let them decide, and you're likely to have more uptake vs any tactics that seem like you're forcing something on people.
- AndrewBissell 5y agoObviously the infrastructure to monitor texts for badthought to which they will respond with factcheckfacts is a necessary precursor to outright censorship.
- raxxorrax 5y agoThere are some screenshots about people speaking about a vaccine, not necessarily negatively. The SMS didn't get delivered with a hint where to find information. Could be fake though, the message was displayed in Androids SMS app.
- readflaggedcomm 5y ago>suggesting that the administration would use door-to-door vaccination efforts as a means to “take your guns” That's prognostication. Calling it "misinformation" is incorrect when it hasn't played out yet. They should remind people that the man who threatened that, Beto, wasn't elected to the US Senate office he campaigned on that promise, but that he did endorse Biden.
