- glandium 5y agoThere is a longer version at https://twitter.com/i/status/1404326042777554947 https://twitter.com/i/status/1404326042777554947
- metahost 5y agoThis is the original video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TGBcAZ55D4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TGBcAZ55D4
- celticninja 5y agoAn ethos I can get behind. Fuck you Zuckerberg.
- YeGoblynQueenne 5y agoAnother brick in the walled garden... apparently, over Roger Waters' dead body.
- giantandroids 5y agoWholeheartedly
- stevespang 5y agoWho turned Zuckerberg loose with spears and arrows ? <Jungle bunny> His security staff had to shoot and re-shoot the video clips 300x just to get a near bullseye Next up Zuck will post pics of him self wearing lip plates, and cheeks pierced with bamboo skewers ?
- asah 5y agoCould've done something more constructive. Zuck will just find another song to license. https://twitter.com/Digit_007/status/1404689247051866119?s=20 https://twitter.com/Digit_007/status/1404689247051866119?s=2...
- bellyfullofbac 5y agoI wonder if donating Zuck's money to the Free Assange fund would've been more useful. But then Zuck would have his song "for free"...
- the-dude 5y agoI really could not care less what Roger thinks if this is the tone. Flagged.
- sharklazer 5y agoI’m not sure how you not caring about Roger is a violation of the rules such that it should be flagged. Please explain. Maybe I should flag your comment? It seems without substance and I don’t like you anyway. Same grounds you present. The Dude abides. But you’re not him.
- TheAdamAndChe 5y agoThe post doesn't contribute to our curiosity, it just triggers our tribal monkey brain and doesn't add anything productive in the process.
- amar-laksh 5y agoAgreed, My bad.
- ralmidani 5y agoIt was viscerally satisfying to hear, but Roger Waters has also made a name for himself as a ‘Syria Truther’ - going out of his way to spread lies about Syria, claiming Assad never used chemical weapons, and maligning the White Helmets. Roger Waters is no hero. Edit - here’s one source: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5621847/Roger-Waters-condemns-Syrian-air-strikes-denounces-White-Helmets-fake.html https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5621847/Roger-Water... There are many others you can find by searching “Roger Waters Syria”.
- WesolyKubeczek 5y agoWhy not fuck both of them? :-) The only positive thing about this is, that a fuck you from Waters might be actually heard by Zuck and maybe cause a minuscule amount of sadness.
- qwertox 5y agoI really doubt that Mark Zuckerberg would care. He might shrug if off as a missed marketing opportunity, but this man has no understanding of how incompatible the the sentence "We don't need no education, we don't need no thought control." is with any of his undertakings, or what it takes to show some respect to values humanity tries to embrace. He exploits those weaknesses. He pretends to work towards that greater goal, talks about it but fails to recognize that he's just doing this to increase his hold on power. "Yes, I'm draining our rivers but I do this to deliver the water directly to you, don't you see?"
- edf13 5y agoSources??
- ionwake 5y agoDon’t relate someone’s action to previous actions without sources and especially when they are from entirely different domains. It comes across as a shallow attack. I’m saying this as it irked me - and I don’t even know who this Roger guy is.

- kemonocode 5y agoAs much as Roger Waters lost all my respect back then when he sided with Maduro during the Venezuelan protests, giving the middle finger to Zuckerberg is something I wholeheartedly endorse. The irony is just too thick with his materials in particular.
- koheripbal 5y agoThis is generally what Twitter social media is all about. People, none of whom I respect nor care about, throwing insults at one another, yet doing nothing of substance. ...and it's why I seldom log into those platforms anymore. People use these platforms to get their daily dose of dopamine. It's a worthless addiction.
- 7sidedmarble 5y agoYeah, how could anyone not like the US puppet pick. We've been trying to eradicate the socialist government of Venezuela for the last 20 years. Guaidó has received in indeterminate amount of Venezuelan cash frozen in the US. If that doesn't speak to who is pulling the strings here, I don't know what will.
- formerly_proven 5y ago> This is something that I actually put in my folder when I came out here today. You have no idea what it is. Nobody does. Because it arrived on the internet to me this morning. It's a request for the rights to use my song, Another brick in the wall II, in the making of a film to promote Instagram. So it's a missive from Mark Zuckerberg to me. Right. Arrived this morning. With a offer of a huge, huge amount of money. And the answer is: Fuck you. No fucking way. I only mention that because this an insidious move of them to take over absolutely everything. So those of us who do have any power, and I do have a little bit, in terms of the control of the publishing of my songs I do anyway, so. I will not be a party to this bullshit, Mark Zuckerberg. > "We want to thank you for considering this project. We feel that the core sentiment of this song is still so prevalent and necessary today, which speaks to how timeless a work it truly..." -- and yet they want to suburn, they want to use it to make Facebook and Instagram even bigger and more powerful than it already is, so it can continue to censor all of us in this room, and prevent this story about Julian Assange getting out to the general public, so the general public could go "WHAT? What, no?" No. No more. > ... > You think, "how did this little prick who started off by saying 'She's pretty, we give her a four out of five, she's ugly, we'll give her a one'. How the fuck did he get any power in anything? And yet here he is, one of the most powerful idiots in the world.
- arpa 5y agopart of Rogers' appeal is his inherent naïveness regarding some issues like Syria/Venezuela and his songs (if you heard ten of them, you heard most of them). But that naïveté also allows him such beautiful expressions of visceral opinions and is part of the reason he remains somewhat loveable regardless of his failings.
- joelbluminator 5y agoIf Rogers Waters says so it must be true, he wrote good songs 50 years ago so he must know a lot about everything.
- mapgrep 5y agoPromptly censored here on HN.
- lolive 5y agoHe is still upset by that Gini deal... #privateJoke
- Nohortax 5y agoa decade ago, I loved Roger Waters as a singer and musician, I don't know what he did else (I've read some comments that point out things he "wrongly" did) but I can feel something by seeing this video. I agree with his decision but I'm a bit shocked by him being so scathing. I feel like something's wrong with his virulent behavior. Is it really necessary, constructive and efficient to be so scathing ?
- taylodl 5y agoTake a listen to the Pink Floyd album Animals. Extremely scathing. The lyrics are simply brutal. Pink Floyd started work on that in 1976, i.e. 45 years ago. He was scathing then and not much has changed in the intervening time.
- Nohortax 5y agoI should ! The time when I listened to Pink Floyd I didn't know English yet. I will try again now I'm more or less okay with this language
- ykevinator3 5y agoMusicians dont get a seat at the intellectual table
