Humans are always looking for things to believe in. When people become less religious, they still need something to put their faith in. Motivation and happiness are vague words or concepts. Existentialism and existential nihilism explain this. Those books are not based on science, and if they were, they would talk about it. Apart from saving the world from climate change and tax justice I cannot find any meaning I could find in those books.
