Why Didn’t Microsoft Die?
- rvz 5y agoWhat kind of clickbait question is that? Everyone with a desktop, laptop, Xbox and Office installed knows why they didn't die. A better question would be: 'Why didn't the New York Times die quick enough?' Discuss.
- raxxorrax 5y agoCompanies relying on Office and Windows. But Office is probably the main driver here. People say Linux isn't ready for enterprise, but I think that is plainly wrong, even with the lack of pendants to domain controllers. Most IT-service providers disagree because they have invested knowledge here. Even those that don't buy into becoming Microsoft MVP. Might not work that easily with really large companies, but the common medium sized company could save thousands in licence costs without increasing maintenance. But many of them still employ some weird Access ERP-solution that supplies a lot of inertia. Inertia that was a created even before the cloud rush. If you look at the work the normal clerk does, you could just a well use a version of Word for Windows 3.11.
