It's worth calculating power usage for this kind of thing. It's often a false economy if you don't use the compute.
- joezydeco 5y agoFair point. The server draws 185W @ idle and at my power cost it's about $15/month to run. Amortize the server hardware too and it's maybe $25/month The server has 24 cores, 32GB/1TB, and I can't see what an equivalent AWS instance would cost monthly. But it's easily more than $25. The PowerPro (8vCPU 32/175) is $148 monthly.
