Without sponsors there are no players.
- hkt 5y agoActually, fans and players can get along without sponsors. There is also a long list of prospective sponsors who don't peddle fizzy drinks that the talent (or fans) might object to.
- Scoundreller 5y ago> There is also a long list of prospective sponsors who don't peddle fizzy drinks that the talent (or fans) might object to. Might be hard to find, there’s not that many global brands out there where you can advertise once and hit the world. Unhealthy food and beverage make up a lot of the sector. Even Google or Apple don’t hit the China market well. Even multinational car manufacturers sub-brand way too much.
- slipframe 5y agoThat's bullshit though. People will still be playing football even if nobody is getting paid. Why? Because it's fun. To corporations like Coca Cola, 'fun' is an abstract concept that you associate with your product to make more money; such corporations can never truly understand the concept of fun.
- movedx 5y ago> That's bullshit though Whoa! Calm down. It was a statement that we both know to be wrong, but it doesn't warrant this kind of response.
- slipframe 5y agoJust because I used a word you think is offensive, doesn't mean you should insult me by insinuating that I've lost control of myself. Such an insinuation is more inherently insulting than any four-letter word.

- aaomidi 5y agoTIL people don't play sports when there's no sponsor
- mc32 5y agoThere would be, just not as highly paid. Take 70s pay and adjust for inflation. That approximation probably wouldn’t be far off. No sponsors, no TV, no TV, less exposure, smaller market, revenue would come from attendance and some merchandising maybe (without sponsors).
- zibzab 5y agoNo TV?
