RFC for 700 HTTP Status Codes (2012)
- memco 5y ago“PC Load Letter” is not on the list. Hope it is added.
- lmkg 5y agoI think 759 is somewhat related.
- jason2323 5y agoThis might actually be useful!
- rzimmerman 5y agoBig fan of “786 - Try it now”
- hoten 5y ago79x needs something akin to "Global nuclear fallout; internet failed to live up to design requirements"
- daveslash 5y agoAlso needs a reference to the AI Singularity ~ i.e. Skynet and the Robot Apocalypse.
- contravariant 5y agoIsn't that just a special case of 794?
- ILMostro7 5y ago001
- pwillia7 5y agoThat's covered under 799 I think
- knodi123 5y agoyes. if we need to distinguish further, then set the response header X-Apocalypse-Reason
- abujazar 5y ago787 should be Plane Crash
- asciimike 5y agoIt could also be "IT didn't turn it off and on again" in reference to https://www.theregister.com/2020/04/02/boeing_787_power_cycle_51_days_stale_data/ https://www.theregister.com/2020/04/02/boeing_787_power_cycl...
- usr1106 5y agoThat what be 737 Redundancy is overrated
- pmcollins 5y ago737 workaround introduced new bug
- abujazar 5y ago«Relied On A Cloud Provider For Redundance» is missing. Typically misclassified as 503, but really belongs in 77x
- jagged-chisel 5y agoThat's not my (the developer's) fault. 787. Talk to the bean counters.
- cwillu 5y agoYou could have hosted it on your work laptop and you know it.
- jagged-chisel 5y agoThey gave me an abacus. 787.
- larkost 5y agoMissing an entry about "Missed the Balmer peak by that much"
- pipingdog 5y agoIsn't 759 just a special case of 754?
- vitus 5y agoNot quite -- 754 is "unexpected ;", while 759 is "unexpected ::". (semicolon vs colons)
- jepler 5y ago754.0000000000001 Binary floating point used
- iab 5y agoDo we have something like: auto returncode = isApprox(754);
- banana_giraffe 5y agoNeeds something like 708 - Single dev that knew how this house of cards worked is dead.
- soheil 5y ago777 - Jackpot
- enahs-sf 5y ago762 - Stoned.
- hjek 5y agoShould be HTTP 420. Except that'd be a client error.
- arthurcolle 5y agoI mean... that makes more sense
- roughly 5y agoTwitter used to return that for rate limiting (with a status message of "Enhance Your Calm") before 429 became standard.
- Maken 5y agoThere has to be legitimate uses for the "724 - Unreachable" code.
- sellyme 5y ago735 and 775 are pretty useful too. They clearly communicate why a page wasn't available and what the user can do about it (get a proper browser, and fuck-all, respectively).
- question000 5y ago747: Server in Airplane Mode.
- deleted 5y ago[deleted]
- soheil 5y ago700 - Hello world
- rossdavidh 5y agoWell _I_ liked it.
- yongjik 5y agoBug report: "733 - Fucking Deadlocks" shouldn't be there? What kind of fake BS deadlock would let the server send back a status code?
- jagged-chisel 5y agoread it as a verb instead
- breckenedge 5y agoAnd that’s how you get a bat virus folks.
- yongjik 5y agoSounds like "911 - Immediate Medical Attention Required"
- soheil 5y agowould still be too busy
- m00x 5y agoThis is super cringe.
- rossdavidh 5y agoHey, it's HN, if you're not up for super cringe perhaps you shouldn't be here? Or maybe you mean there should be a 7xx code for "This is super cringe"?
- iab 5y ago778 - not everyone approves
- soheil 5y ago700 + i: It's complicated
- arthurcolle 5y ago777 - "Idiot dev that wrote this thought that pure belief would keep the steam shovel rolling"
- roughly 5y agoPropose "769: Burning Man"
- msluyter 5y agoReally enjoyed "718 - I am not a teapot", a clever nod to "418 - I'm a teapot": https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Status/418 https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Status/418
- jonny383 5y agoThis is wasteful trash and has no place in a standard.
- throwaddzuzxd 5y agoGood thing it's not in the HTTP standard but in a joke standard then.
- karmakaze 5y agoYou realize that 418 really means, "I am not a coffee maker", right?
- anotherevan 5y agoUnfortunately these have not (as yet) been added to http.cat
- gurjeet 5y ago737 - FuckThreadsing Pretty clever :-)
