My thoughts exactly. This sentence really struck me as a strange thing to write:
> Often these ‘rebels with a cause’ – also known as positive or constructive “deviants” – may be motivated because they care for the organisation and its mission, and feel psychological discomfort when they see that important capabilities clearly need improvement.
If you don't feel that way about your work, then what the hell are you even doing there?
- throwaway87163 5y agoNot every job can be a passion. Sometimes people just need the money and are only there because of it.
- Dudeman112 5y agoWorking in a pleasant job for enough money to live comfortably, of course. Drink the Silicon Valley kool aid with moderation.
- mtberatwork 5y agoI can guarantee you the company does not feel the same way about the `rebel with a cause` as the rebel feels about the company, especially when times get critical. Unless you are the founder, it's best not to get too caught up in mission statements.
- DocTomoe 5y agoAnd even founders are not completely immune. See Steve Jobs, ca 1985

- astura 5y agoUm... Working? Presumably.
