WebRTC: The end of an era (and the dawn of a new one)
- api 5y agoWebRTC is a cool capability to add to the web ecosystem, but the protocol itself is orders of magnitude more complex than it should be and the standard is far too big and clunky. It mandates too many things too. It should just be a P2P protocol and that's that, and it should be maybe 1/4 the size that it is. Of course that's most of modern software engineering. WebRTC is actually not that terrible compared with many other things. Over-engineering is a plague.
