Germany aims to get self-driving cars on the roads in 2022
- beebeepka 5y agoHow about they focus on doing electric cheaply instead. I am certainly not against self driving but that technology is ways off and possibly harder to implement with an ICE due to their clunkiness.
- raxxorrax 5y agoI think there will be a reckoning with electric vehicles. The large ones with batteries > 70 kWh are more damaging to the environment than comparable fuel based cars up until you drive 150,000km. If you only look at CO2 emission, they might come out on top, but not by much and it would be a very reductive way to look at resource consumption. We aren't in a reality where battery cars are the future. Maybe for a time bridging to better technologies. And even if so, infrastructure would need to change dramatically.
