Where does it say freenode has changed hands at all?
Not here: https://freenode.net/project https://freenode.net/project
Seemingly not here?: https://imperialfamily.com/ https://imperialfamily.com/
Merely linking to freenode.net under "technology" is less than convincing.
- kroo 5y agolooks like the freenode staff confirmed it here: https://twitter.com/freenodestaff/status/1395046345145307140 https://twitter.com/freenodestaff/status/1395046345145307140
- marcan_42 5y agoFreenode changed hands in 2018 to London Trust Media; this is well documented. What has happened now is that they are now taking over the actual operations of the network. It seems London Trust Media recently rebranded as Imperial Family Companies; londontrustmedia.com now redirects there.
- ilaksh 5y agoActually, the influence of that company is old news. Freenode people have now moved on with a new name. But the reason was that yes that company did have some control over that domain name apparently. Go to the Freenode IRC (if it still exists) and talk to the people there. Then go to the Libera.chat IRC and talk to those people. You can confirm where the people are.
