This is a case of bias against anything that smells of AI. Media blew this one: any Tesla owner could've told you that AutoPilot cannot be switched on in roads with no lane markings. The peak hysteria was when Consumer Reports showed users how to fool AutoPilot by a set of complex pre-planned steps, which would be considered sabotage in any industrial setting.

Any idiot can do it: - https://jalopnik.com/another-video-shows-a-driver-abusing-tesla-autopilot-on-1846851450 https://jalopnik.com/another-video-shows-a-driver-abusing-te... - https://www.thedrive.com/news/38787/mom-of-the-year-films-kids-stupid-and-dangerous-sleeping-tesla-driver-stunt-for-tiktok https://www.thedrive.com/news/38787/mom-of-the-year-films-ki... - https://www.thedrive.com/news/36366/morons-leave-driver-seat-empty-let-tesla-autopilot-drive-so-they-can-keep-drinking-in-the-car https://www.thedrive.com/news/36366/morons-leave-driver-seat... So why is it that a system which supposedly has the sophistication and situational awareness to offer "full self driving" on public roads can't even tell what's going on inside the car?
- petee 5y agoI'm curious, what happens if you already have it engaged on a supported road, but then the car transitions to a road where autosteer doesn't work? Does the car come to a stop, blast an alarm, or just veer off the road?
