- echlebek 5y agoNot everyone can leave their job at the drop of a hat, even with a big severance package. You don't know their motivations or plans.
- mempko 5y agoExactly. Health insurance in US will tie people down even if they want to leave. For example.
- cblconfederate 5y agoaren't they remote?
- CydeWeys 5y agoMost of them are still in the US.
- marcinzm 5y agoNot really. You just pay for COBRA. Your 6 months severance will cover that rather nicely. Granted it might be cheaper to just get private insurance nowadays.
- sangnoir 5y agoTwo thirds so far. It's been less than a week.
- nostromo 5y agoBut are those the best 2/3rds of employees, or the worst 2/3rds? People with lots of options are often the first to jump ship. I realize in this case it’s likely more complicated than that because people may have moral objections to the change in policy. But the first to jump out of a sinking ship are the people who are confident they can make their way to another boat.
- benhurmarcel 5y agoNot everyone is a developer in the US. Job prospects aren't that great for everyone.
