I just loaded WhatsApp Web (I authenticated the browser a few days ago), and on my second phone/WA account I can see my main account appear as online. If the WAW tab loses focus, after a while it does change to "last seen...". On focus, it immediately says "online" again.

Then probably the bridge doesn't work like a browser. It keeps the (probably virtual) window in focus in the background.
