- philwelch 6y agoI saw it in theaters because it was advertised to be the best use of the new and improved 3D film technology at the time, so I was part of that high box office gross. Despite the strong positive reception at the time, though, the movie didn’t really seem to achieve a lasting legacy.
- ghaff 6y agoIt was an outstanding technical achievement for the time. And enjoyable enough. But it really wasn't a great movie.
- slavik81 6y agoAvatar 2 is scheduled for next year, and there's a movie every second year until 2028.
- Andrew_nenakhov 6y agoIt's been 'scheduled for next year' for almost a decade now. ...
- slavik81 6y agoIt doesn't sound like they really started until 2017, but the movie appears to be in post-production. I think the delay from 2021 to 2022 was about finding a good release window.
- widforss 6y agoHow are they going to sell tickets to a sequel to a movie nobody remembers anything about except "blue creatures"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxp1IBK1OPI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxp1IBK1OPI
- colinmhayes 6y agoThey just made king kong vs godzilla. Plot doesn't matter in action movies.
- dalmo3 6y agoSpoiler: King Kong outlives Godzilla.
- JKCalhoun 6y agoHmmm, highest grossing film. Crappy, quickly forgotten. That everything above is true I can easily hold in my mind.
- b0tzzzzzzman 6y agoOnly movie I saw that was good in 3D Imax.. Yeah. Not the business at home model of today, but worth something at the time.
- condemil 6y agoResident Evil: Afterlife was good in 3D, cannot tell the same about other 3D movies though.
- rkuykendall-com 6y agoYour comment about box office revenue is not related to their comment about the film's quality or staying power in the popular consciousness.
