- tanseydavid 6y agoJohn Cleese does management training videos! These are still damn funny, relevant and relatable more than 40 years later. I remember another one from the same series called "Who Sold You That, Then?"
- spitfire 6y agoHe also does excellent computer advertisements! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlmzwZXa-Ww https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlmzwZXa-Ww
- feralimal 6y agoLuckily, modern life has made the interminable meetings of the 70's a thing of the past. Right? Right?!?
- ska 6y agoDefinitely! The interminable meetings of the present have far fewer overhead projectors, for example.
- jolmg 6y agoWonder if on average the people that have changed to WFH this past year have seen a reduction in meetings, or if they're still doing the same (or more?) via video-conferences.
- swader999 6y agoI have noticed everyone is typically on time for remote meetings. Apologies usually come from anyone a minute late. Back in the office five minutes late was normal.
- marcosdumay 6y agoAs it happens, the largest bottleneck on the number of meetings at my workplace seems to be the number of rooms. Now we don't need rooms anymore!
- burundi_coffee 6y agoUnfortunately it's the same, just without any chairs.
- temporallobe 6y agoTwo things: I once attended a meeting about our need to reduce the number of meetings due to decreased productivity. We never ended up reducing our meetings. On my current project, it is normal and expected that we will attend an average of 2 hours in meetings per day, and therefore our actual productive hours are calculated at 60 hours per 2-week sprint. I initially thought this was absurd and that there was no way this could be accurate, but it’s actually true. Between various Agile ceremonies, standups, design strategy, and ad-hoc meetings most of the devs on my team do indeed attend an average of 2 hours per day in meetings. For me as a lead, that is easily doubled.
- soledades 6y agoThis makes for fantastic background music for working at home.
