I urge you to consider the implications of working for Google, as this choice is at the very least problematic.
Not everything has to be political, maybe she's just happy she's going be learning a lot from a tech company that has brought a lot of good stuff into the world both technical and otherwise.
- einpoklum 6y agoI'm not sure what you mean by "has to be". Google is a not-insignificant force in world politics. And - Google is not the only place to intern in Silicon Valley.
- AntiImperialist 6y agoWhat do you mean "has to be political"? She's not choosing between neo-cons and neo-libs which get funding from competitors. Sometimes, both of them get funding from the same interests. Your votes don't matter, so you can be "apolitical". Her case is different. You keep hearing about Uighurs everywhere because China is an enemy of the U.S. Gazan people have it much worse but it doesn't get much attention, for obvious reasons. This post is not very different from an Uighur girl getting an internship at Huawei. Having said that, I'm happy for her and Palestine that she got a job at Google. I know that she'll never get access to the parts of Google which is helping in suppressing her people... but I hope she finds out.
