I think you should answer yourself what you don't like about writing tests in FE. I personally like writing them (at least for my personal project), but I think tools are still evolving in FE testing. E.g. I have recently found out about Playwright and it is step forward compared to Puppeteer: automatic waits and codegen tool is what makes Playwright the joy to work with.
I'm still looking how to improve FE testing but it is something what absolutely makes my life easier.
- mouzogu 6y agoMy comment was actually around Node JS. Writing unit and integration test for async server code and god forbid some kind of critical or secure code is not something I'm comfortable doing. As far as FE testing I don't have any issue with that as long as the value and trade-offs are well understood and not just writing tests for the sake of it.
- daliusd 6y agoOh. Sorry I must have misread your comment then :-) For Node BE code I either end-up writing pseudo e2e tests (e.g. using supertest like here https://github.com/daliusd/cardamon/blob/master/app.test.js https://github.com/daliusd/cardamon/blob/master/app.test.js) and/or testing individual components by separating them out from express stuff.
