You'll keep all your message history in Signal that way. Good to know when your contact don't have an Internet connection, too.
- manesioz 6y agoI use the Signal app as my default for everything because of this feature (secure communication with Signal users and insecure SMS with non-Signal users)
- bzb6 6y agoWhat a workaround. SMS are not encrypted, cost money, have a length limit, don’t support images or groups...
- xeromal 6y agoI didn't know some places still charge for SMS
- sgt 6y agoI think they charge for SMS pretty much anywhere outside the US.
- xeromal 6y agoWow, thanks for the info. That stinks!

- rcMgD2BwE72F 6y agoNo one pays for SMS in France. And probably in most European countries.
- angry_octet 6y agoNo its the other way around. Americans were still paying to receive phone calls when most other places were on unlimited SMS.
- philjohn 6y agoMy plan comes with unlimited SMS (Three in the UK).
- drexlspivey 6y agoOnly if the recipient is in the UK too
- blankton 6y agoGermany still pays for SMS, nobody here uses MMS because its so expensive.
- tgsovlerkhgsel 6y agoIt's the reason why Whatsapp became so big in Europe.
- IshKebab 6y agoI wouldn't call that a nice workaround. Doesn't work for group messages or people that don't use signal for SMS.

- bergstromm466 6y ago> The NSA will have a copy too, just in case you lose yours! They should offer a paid subscription service for data retrieval, in case we do lose our copy!
