- sneak 6y agoIt could be argued that a supposed PD device that provides 20V without negotiation isn't just a "poor implementation" but is in fact not PD at all. The fact that I can wire up a 220VAC etherkiller with a USB-C port on the end is not a failing of the USB spec or in any way the fault of the USB-IF.
- Dylan16807 6y agoI believe there was a charger that would negotiate a higher voltage, but didn't notice when you unplugged the far end of the cable and kept the near end plugged in. Then you could attach a new device and possibly fry it. I'd file that under "poor implementation".
- stragies 6y agoDepending on your job description, you might see that as a feature .... BOFH: "Oh, the user connected an unauthorized USB device; let's see, how it handles 20V"
