I think you’re being generous. I don’t think it’s survivorship bias. I think it’s narcissism. She’s not willing to be inconvenienced for the benefit of people she doesn’t know, or to listen to evidence beyond anecdotes from her own life.

- api 6y agoA giant conspiracy theory based on the latest billionaire pipe dream. Check. As soon as we have a vaccine for this, a bunch of these trends will reverse. Maybe not all of them, but there’s going to be a flurry of travel and partying and all the rest. ... and yes, governments reactions to COVID have been ham fisted, waffling, and poorly thought out. This is why I don’t buy giant conspiracy theories. The elite are no more organized than average people.
- mwcampbell 6y agoYou criticize the GP for being generous, but I think they should take it as a compliment. We're drowning in so much cynicism and assuming the worst in each other; we need more generosity, even though by definition it costs us something. To attempt to practice that, I'll grant that maybe you're weary of talking to narcissistic people, so you made a snap judgment of this article based on that. But I think she might be onto something. I'm not sure.
