How do you find the latency?
- SV_BubbleTime 6y agoThis is a question that has two answers 1. Not good 2. I have fiber Obviously generalization and I don’t care if someone has 2008 DSL and it “runs awesome”.
- p1necone 6y ago2. I have fiber and I'm close to a Stadia datacenter.* I assume they don't release in markets that aren't physically close to the hardware though - it's not available at all here in New Zealand for example.
- polishdude20 6y agoFiber wouldn't do much would it? Does it reduce actual travel time for the signal?
- msh 6y agoDepends a lot what you compare fiber to. mobile broadband can easily have 20-30 ms latency to the ISP. DSL is often 10-20 ms. Coax is in the same range, depending ont he provider. Fiber is usually 1-3 ms.
- SV_BubbleTime 6y agoYou do not seem to live in a rural area.
- msh 6y agoI don't understand why rural is relevant to the latency I posted?
- IshKebab 6y agoVery anecdotal but I just switched from cable to fibre and latency significantly reduced, form like 20-30ms to 5ms.
- sidibe 6y agoTo contradict sibling, I don't notice any latency on 75 mbps plan (might be a lack of sensitivity to that as someone who hasn't gamed in years)
- gundmc 6y agoImperceptible with a controller on TV (as compared to an Xbox One on the same TV, which has a decent amount of input lag already). On Chrome on PC with a low-latency gaming monitor, you can notice the difference if you play a game natively and then stream it, but honestly you stop thinking about it pretty quickly as long as your ping is under ~25 ms or so. I'm loving Cyberpunk on Stadia and I've been playing shooters on PC since MoH:AA in 2002. Edit: I have Comcast Cable, not fiber.
