I think it was great. The problem, in my experience, is that everything at Google is just too damn complicated these days. It's really hard to make an impact on a hard problem without an intense commitment. 20% context switching doesn't cut it. Linters, code checkers, automation tools, IDE plugins, etc, have all been plucked. There's not a lot of low hanging fruit anymore.
