Drug Reverses Age-Related Mental Decline Within Days
- RcouF1uZ4gsC 6y ago> Rapid Rejuvenation of Mental Faculties in Aged Mice Just say “in mice” https://mobile.twitter.com/justsaysinmice https://mobile.twitter.com/justsaysinmice
- seibelj 6y agoIt's a good thing I'm a mouse. I've been alive for nearly 150 years at this point, my eyesight is stellar, and my cancer has been cured over 40 times!
- penagwin 6y ago_Glances over at the mice in the control groups and failed experiments_
- vmception 6y agolol thats what I said outloud when I read the title Like what you say after reading any fortune cookie
- wayneftw 6y agoI like to add "with mice, who have 97.5 percent of working DNA in common with humans."
- Scoundreller 6y agoSeems simple enough to synthesize. I expect it to show up on the nootropics market in 3...2...1...
- nynx 6y agoHopefully! Better nootropics are needed! It does seem to be quite expensive from chemical suppliers. We really need to solve that protein folding problem so chemicals can just get synthesized through protein factories...
- JumpCrisscross 6y agoGiven the study mice “received an intraperitoneal injection of 2.5x their body weight” [1], it would require heavy at-home DIY doctoring. [1] https://elifesciences.org/articles/62048 https://elifesciences.org/articles/62048
- Scoundreller 6y ago2.5x? That must be an error? Cool thing is that they first dissolved it in DMSO, which can make a great carrier for transdermal absorption.
- IndrekR 6y agoWikipedia page for the compound: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISRIB https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISRIB
- adamredwoods 6y agoFlowers For Algernon.
- BeetleB 6y ago> Flowers For Algernon With a twist, given that the drugs were given to the mice here ;-)
- asah 6y agoflagged for the clickbait title. We're not &^%&* mice.
- asdfman123 6y agoHe's getting rather old but he's a good mouse.
- godelski 6y agoWe keep seeing these types of headlines. Anyone familiar with these types of studies know what the progression is after testing on mice? That's all we hear about and I'm wondering what portion of time, funding, failure rates it is that we don't see the studies progress to pigs, chimps, or humans. What's the actual procedure here? And why don't we see next steps?
