What control am I really losing here? There isn’t a way to implement this specific security measure without a remote service, so Apple provides the remote service. I get the security feature.
- imtringued 6y agoOther HN commenters have said that an optional offline factory reset is possible by providing a device specific password/master key. The fact that Apple only provides internet based recovery means they don't care about user control.
