Tesla Model 3 Crash Hurls Battery Cells into Nearby Home
- Andys 6y agoWorth noting that "A tire.. struck.. with such force that it ruptured the water pipes within the wall". Sounds like the danger was related to the extreme speed rather than it being an electric vehicle.
- mrlonglong 6y agoSimple physics dictates the amount of energy released when an object comes to an sudden stop. Any objects shaken loose will continue owing to itertia. I'm a bit impressed that the batteries somehow escaped from their steel cage, the vehicle must have been doing at least three digits in speed for that to happen. At least that's what I remember from my physics.
- davidgould 6y ago> batteries somehow escaped from their steel cage From the photos I have seen the car was ripped in half leaving the drivers area and front corner intact and the rest of the car spread out in what the air crash investigators call a "debris field".
