DOSBox Is Getting a Fancier, More Modern Version
- cable2600 6y agoLooks good, makes it like a DOS Video Game console.
- sigmaprimus 6y agoInteresting that the trailer is very focused on gaming. I and my clients mainly use Dosbox for 16 bit business applications no longer supported by modern operating systems but still needed for various reasons. The biggest issues they run into is confusion over mounting and mapping drives and printers. (Something that non NIX users still struggle with in modern OSes as the M$ ecosystem never required user input for mounting devices) It would be great to include USB plug and play functionality for flash drives (though that was not a feature of DOS) It looks like this new version does have some nice features, especially the memory dumping and save points which might prove to be a valuable debugging/porting tool.
- orionblastar 6y agoJust print to a postscript file and then use ghostscript to print it.
- SOLAR_FIELDS 6y agoThis is good news for platforms that sell old games (GOG). Anyone who owns a few of those old school games on their platform knows that the DOSBox powered launcher/emulator that they use can be a bit quirky at times. Hopefully this update will help to add some more stability there.
- imtringued 6y agoThis is an update for the DOSBOX core in Retroarch. Retroarch is basically a frontend for emulators. A Retroarch core is an application that was ported to use retroarch APIs for display, sound and input handling. This allows Retroarch to be used on a wide variety of platforms.
