Simulating RAM in Clojure
- georgeoliver 6y agoThanks to the OP for the book reference (But How do it Know? by Scott), I hadn't heard of it. I had the same kind of aha moment with Petzold's Code.
- iampims 6y agoIt’s fun to follow along, even if like me, you’re not too familiar with Clojure.
- stopachka 6y agoGlad you’re enjoying it! :)
- smprather 6y agoYou wrote an event driven simulator. We use Verilog simulators in my industry. http://iverilog.icarus.com/ http://iverilog.icarus.com/
- stopachka 6y agoCool!
- djhworld 6y agoThis is cool! You've got the building blocks for the rest of the machine now :) I did a similar thing last year after reading this book, it turned out to be a really fun and rewarding exercise! https://djharper.dev/post/2019/05/21/i-dont-know-how-cpus-work-so-i-simulated-one-in-code/ https://djharper.dev/post/2019/05/21/i-dont-know-how-cpus-wo...
- stopachka 6y agoOh wow amazing work! Will look deeper, thank you :)
- max_ 6y agoThanks for the article, BTW, why can't we simulate quantum computers with software?
- dragonwriter 6y agoAIUI, you can, it's just that the time it takes the simulation to run isn't proportional to the time it takes the real quantum computer to run. Unless the software is running on a quantum computer, in which case you just made a quantum VM.
- imtringued 6y agoI don't know why you think we can't. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/quantum/user-guide/machines/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/quantum/user-guide/machines...
- historyremade 6y agoBecause it's a scam. Forget.
