As much as I resent Google for shuttering some fine services, I do not complain this move. It's natural to merge video and music at some stage. With just a single subscription, I get access to YouTube premium and YouTube music along with YT originals. YT music app can use some UI work, but apart from that it's a sweet deal.
- parineum 6y ago> It's natural to merge video and music at some stage. What? Why? You think it'd make sense for Netflix to Spotify and merge them? Audio and Visual media are consumed completely differently.
- sidcool 6y agoI think the comparison is not apt. YouTube already had very high traffic for music videos. And YT is very different from NF.
- watermelon0 6y agoActually, I'd reckon the majority of traffic for music videos is for listening purposes, and not for actual viewing of the video. YouTube is the best free platform for listening to music, with (probably) the largest collection of songs, if you can survive with lower quality/bitrate music.
- hnrodey 6y agoInteresting! Given that I subscribe to both then maybe it would save me a few dollars on the subs.
- AntiImperialist 6y agoThey could still be separate products but bundled as a single subscription.
- t-writescode 6y agoLike they were for years, in fact!
