It seems the American definition of Asian appears to exclude the Indian subcontinent
- chii 6y agomost people's definition of asian refers to the far east (and southeast) asian. India is somewhat explicitly excluded, even tho geographically they are on the same continent as "asians". I think you will just have to get used to it. It's the same as referring to USA as America - excluding all of South America.

- garmaine 6y agoWell it is the only country with “America” in its name.
- lotsofpulp 6y agoAsians in the UK means Indians, Asians in the US frequently refers to East Asians. Although in the US, I feel like the ethnicity question is more about pinning down what socioeconomic class you’re in, so the options will lump all of Asia together.
- Doctor_Fegg 6y agoMost _Americans’_ definition.
- remote_phone 6y agoIt also excludes Russians, who are also Asian.
- awerawerawrjhui 6y ago80% of Russians live in the European part of Russia.
- riffraff 6y agoOther countries in Asia include Turkey, Israel, Syria, Afghanistan, Maldives. I am pretty sure nobody thinks of people from those countries as asian either.
- john_moscow 6y agoYep, that's what I'm talking about in the other thread. 0 comments on efficient weight loss techniques, and almost 10 about who should be counted in which pandering group. Wake up, people, identity politics is eating you alive.
