Florida Gov. DeSantis attempts to vote, discovers someone changed his address
- some_furry 6y agoIf it's possible to do this to Gov. DeSantis, what's stopping malicious actors from doing that to the rest of us?

- lsaferite 6y agoWhy would it be flagged?
- throwaway0a5e 6y agoBecause it's vaguely political and has little tech component. It's not like it's about electronic voting machines or something. Not that that stuff never shows up, but usually it's on and off the front page pretty quick unless there's a tech component.
- briantakita 6y agoBecause it goes against the narrative that widespread voter fraud does not exist prevalent in Hacker News...Anything that goes against the narrative is deemed "political", while any political headlines that go with the narrative are not flagged. Typical double standard that is common in corporate media & big tech... In other words... War is Peace Freedom is Slavery Ignorance is Strength
- the_only_law 6y agoWe're wayyyy past the point of vaguely political content being allowed.
- athenot 6y agoThe difference is of course the Governor could summon law enforcement to quickly find who was causing this—and fix it—but a regular person would have a hard time getting the same kind of enforcement, leading to an uncounted voice.
- briantakita 6y agoWhich begs the question, is voter fraud is more widespread than the cases that have surfaced as evidence?
- boardwaalk 6y agoNo? How would changing someone’s address on file lead directly to voter fraud?
- bassman9000 6y agoReceiving ballots that otherwise would have gone to people that don't vote.
- dragonwriter 6y agoIf this particular kind of fraud was common, it would be blindingly obvious. So, no, I don't think this raises that question at all.
- briantakita 6y agoThe lack of journalistic curiosity is startling...BTW, Project Veritas has numerous videos, including a woman who claimed to have swayed 7000 votes. It does not take many operatives of this woman's impact to consistently sway election results. To people who pay attention, it is obvious. To people who want to confirm their bias that there is no widespread election fraud, no evidence, including video evidence, will suffice. They will rationalize & explain it away...

- gruez 6y agoSo if you're the governor and this happens to you, everything's corrected and the perpetrator is arrested within 2 days. Meanwhile, what happens to the average person who is purged from the voter rolls?
- dragonwriter 6y ago> Meanwhile, what happens to the average person who is purged from the voter rolls? The average person purged from the voter rolls incorrectly is purged my a mass, government-contracted-out process that, presuming the error was discovered in time, requires a lawsuit to fix.
- Consultant32452 6y agoTrump is a Florida voter. Whatever prankster did this missed the mark.
- lkxijlewlf 6y agoSuppress that, you prick!
