I was checked by an ENT doctor and I'm keeping in touch with her.
She told me she had a patient who went completely deaf after COVID and others complaining about tinnitus and that she's seen this before with other viral infections.
Yet there were no article "First romanian man goes deaf after COVID-19" (and people replying "shuuut up, its just one guy, this is circumstantial"). -- my point being, given the chances I heard of the only man going deaf being minuscule, the most likely explanation is there must be(many) others -- but given the current focus, lack of treatment and difficulty in linking the covid with ear problems, there is limited research going on.

It's not that there isn't research going on -- it's that good research takes time, and since people aren't willing to wait for that, they're substituting rumor and speculation and treating it as fact. Medical doctors are humans who tend not to be trained in statistics, and therefore often fall victim to the same sorts of logical fallacies that affect everyone else. But at least they see a lot more patients and have a lot more experience seeing diseases in the wild, which can at least temper their intuition for risk.
