Not surprised. I have been seeing a lot more SF city parking stickers on cars in San Diego.

- eplanit 6y agoI worry for San Diego. I moved here to escape the bay area, too. I figure there's only a couple or so years until this region gets wrecked by California politics, too. Then, it'll be time to finally move on back to America. I just want to escape before I suffer any loss on real estate investment.
- themark 6y agoI feel you. There is a clear choice in the race for Mayor.
- gedy 6y agoIt makes sense, relatively cheaper that SF, but same timezone and state.
- chrisseaton 6y agoIs there a big difference between San Francisco and San Diego? They're both Californian mega cities.
- mushbino 6y agoVery different by almost any measure.
- SpicyLemonZest 6y agoMaybe it's a relative perspective thing, but every Californian I know thinks they're quite different.
- gedy 6y agoPolitically it's a lot more centrist. More housing friendly, no good transit options though.
- CapricornNoble 6y agoI wouldn't be surprised if the massive, long-standing military presence in/around San Diego is a factor for the region being more conservative than most of coastal California.
- mushbino 6y agoThis is part of the reason. Another part is that typically the closer you get to the equator in the US the more conservative. It's related to the reason why beach towns typically have bad food and no real culture.
- halfnormalform 6y agoSan Diego is more conservative, generally speaking. Lot more military folks, too.
- themark 6y agoThe obvious one is that SF proper is generally cold and foggy while SD is sunny and warm.
- baby 6y agoSan diego is much more spread out, has very nice beaches, is warm all year long. It doesn’t have good chinese food though.
- refurb 6y agoVery different. San Diego is not a mega city like LA or the great Bay Area. Much better weather than SF, seems a bit more relaxed pace and not as overrun.
- v77 6y agoLooking at a map there really isn't much of a gap between LA and San Diego. It's pretty much one mega-city.
- gedy 6y ago"City" is a strong term, there is suburban sprawl between them, but it's not all urban. Huge USMC base in between as well.
- quicklyfrozen 6y agoThey still feel a world apart, though I expect that to change over the next 20 years.
- refurb 6y agoThat’s a good way to put it. The two cities just have a very different feel to them.
- mitch3x3 6y agoIt’s a 2 hour drive minimum between the two... If they are one big mega-city then Sacramento is part of the bay area.
- baby 6y agoI am one of them. Oh boy life has been so much better since the move. Living 6min walk from the beach, everything is open including indoor dining.
