Ask HN: What modelling languages can be used to capture complex environments?
I'm interesting in knowing what modelling notations can be used to model complex interactions in the environment (i.e. helps us to understand the world around us), something like UML but with a broader scope. Any references, books or articles are very welcomed.
- tlarkworthy 6y agoBPMN is a better UML in my opinion. But talking to people and running experiments is the best way to understand the world.
- aogaili 6y agoThanks, yeah I agree. I'm thinking we need something more general, I'm surprised I couldn't find anything general, say you want to model businesses, people, raw material in an ecosystem. That is, you want to capture the interactions, dependencies and relationships of the ecosystem in a standard abstract notations.
- luthfur 6y agoYeah I have never come across a standardized notation either. Boxes and arrows are you best bet. Use them consistently and provide some blurbs as context.
