You say "greige-ification" while Polish architecture and design communities lament the pasteloza ("pastelosis") trend. It came to be when existing commie blocks were thermally insulated with styrofoam and their façades painted with pastel colors in 2000's and 2010's.
You can't please everyone, I guess...
Although some of the designs created in response to "pasteloza" use bright colors sparingly, so there's that.
- joe_the_user 6y agoScanning google images for the pasteloza, the nice looking building have strong colors and the horrible, depressing buildings basically a mixture of gray and pastel, a lot like greige, IMO. https://www.google.com/search?q=poland+pasteloza&client=ubuntu&hs=xTW&channel=fs&sxsrf=ALeKk00SJUdO5e0CyCAC5LC5IJw3EkKYyA:1602390593284&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwikkOqQ2qvsAhWPHDQIHW9GBNcQ_AUoAnoECAsQBA&biw=1252&bih=560 https://www.google.com/search?q=poland+pasteloza&client=ubun...
