- nextos 6y agoJulia is heavily inspired by Dylan, and that makes it great as this brings a fantastic compromise between static and dynamic typing. Plus, methods (multiple dispatch) bring many of the advantages from OO.
- pjmlp 6y agoDylan was a Swift that came too soon, at least as the sibling comment mentions, we got Julia.
- cgay 6y agoWe also have Dylan. Just sayin'.
- pjmlp 6y agoSure, and the efforts for OpenDylan should be appreciated, however I think its opportunity has been lost and what remains are the ideas on how to do a proper Algol like Lisp.
- housel 6y agoOpportunity lost or not, we're sticking with it, including preparing for a new release in the next few days (see our testing pre-release at https://github.com/dylan-lang/opendylan/releases/tag/v2020.1pre https://github.com/dylan-lang/opendylan/releases/tag/v2020.1...).
- pjmlp 6y agoThat is interesting to know, I thought that after the LLVM integration it had stalled.
