Trump Given “Polyclonal Antibody Cocktail”
- krimeo 6y agoand zinc, dont forget the zinc! ... but no hydroxychloroquine ?
- xiphias2 6y agoI already replied for melatonin, but this is the standard care protocol: https://www.evms.edu/covid-19/covid_care_for_clinicians/#d.en.140202 https://www.evms.edu/covid-19/covid_care_for_clinicians/#d.e...
- steeve 6y agocame here to say just that !
- krimeo 6y agoAnd now he is getting remdesevir, interesting.
- xoxoy 6y agoUnless he was getting fairly sick I’m surprised he would be given such an experimental drug that has only been tested on a few hundred much younger people. Guessing he asked for it. Edit: Reports saying he’s going to the hospital now.
- verdverm 6y agoThe technique is not overly new https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monoclonal_antibody https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monoclonal_antibody Walter Reed has a presidential suite, the staff is likely being overly cautious. There should be a live view of him walking to Marine 1 soon
- Element_ 6y agoNow they are reporting he's being sent to Walter Reed Hospital
- xikrib 6y agoJeez the clickbait at the bottom gave me eye cancer. Really goes to show how much the advertising model is failing the journalism industry
- wordchucks 6y agoWait, melatonin can help with covid-19 treatment?
- adventured 6y agoI was surprised about the famotidine, I had not heard much about that being used: https://hartfordhealthcare.org/about-us/news-press/news-detail?articleid=28305&publicId=395 https://hartfordhealthcare.org/about-us/news-press/news-deta...
- notacoward 6y agoI'd heard about ranitidine, but that was taken off the market (for unrelated reasons). Famotidine is in the same family - in fact it's what I take now - so makes sense I guess. Also: the proton-pump inhibitors (xyz-azole) that constitute the other main family of chronic-heartburn medications have apparently been associated with a significant increase in COVID-19 mortality.
- stevespang 6y agoThe famotidine phenomena was first discovered in China in the beginning of the COVID19 outbreak, a US doctor was stationed in China at the time and he brought the news back to the US. Chinese doctors noticed that patients who were taking famotidine already for heartburn had significantly better outcomes over time. Ivermectin has shown promise, and interferon which was largely ignored by the American medical establishment early on was being used by Russian doctors from the very beginning. Now the American medical establishment is "suddenly" become aware of interferon's usefulness in COVID19.
- xiphias2 6y agoIt's part of the standard practice that was submitted here earlier: https://www.evms.edu/covid-19/covid_care_for_clinicians/#d.en.140202 https://www.evms.edu/covid-19/covid_care_for_clinicians/#d.e...
- liminal 6y agoNot drinking bleach?
- Element_ 6y agoI submitted this article because I thought it was interesting which medical treatments the leader of the free world would receive vs the average patient. The article was medical in nature and not political in any way. I think it's sad the submission gets moderated off HN. I was hoping to read some interesting comments from HN users in the medical field.
- adventured 6y agoThe article should be unflagged, you're entirely correct about the interest aspect of the treatment being used for the President of the United States.
- xiphias2 6y agoThanks for doing it anyways! Moderation is great here, but still there are false positives/negatives
- sneak 6y agoI made https://orangesite.sneak.cloud https://orangesite.sneak.cloud to discover links that get removed from the frontpage, which is how I saw this comment.
- s9w 6y agoI'm not entirely sure how that site works, but that is gold. You should absolutely submit that (again).
- sneak 6y agoIt works by consuming the HN api and noticing how long things stay on the front page. Full source code is provided: https://git.eeqj.de/sneak/orangesite https://git.eeqj.de/sneak/orangesite I tend to avoid submitting my own sites more than once, and I submitted this one six months ago when I made it: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22742607 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22742607 If you think it should be resubmitted, you may submit it yourself.

- HarryHirsch 6y agoBit surprised to see aspirin in there. Anticoagulants are standard AFAIK, but I thought they used apixaban or camostat.
