Only in America can hurting the president politically be higher priority than saving 200k citizen's lives.
- dekhn 6y agoI don't follow that logic. His goal is to prevent the president from being re-elected, which presumably has a higher utility value (it's not like, if we'd had another, science oriented president that the death count would have been 0).
- dekhn 6y agoAlso, I'm curious of the mechanism by which Woodward releasing this earlier would lead to 200k lives saved. I'm struggling to make the connection in terms of alternative approaches that would have completely eliminated COVID in the US (in the sense that it appears to have been eliminated in China)- only aggressive containment of citizens would have had any real effect on the scale you're describing.
