    I like Jitsi better than Zoom. No install needed. Only thing is that it makes my CPU run hot. Any reason you think Zoom is better?

        Actually, you can: https://github.com/jitsi/jigasi https://github.com/jitsi/jigasi Needs some setup, but if you are using Jitsi that seems reasonable

  My university uses Blackboard Collab, its a pretty solid solution imho and apparently integrates nicely into Moodle.

  Jitsi running on matrix/riot/element works pretty well IME. Dunno if schools would be able to provide the necessary HW/funding for full day streaming though.

  Webex. No temporary unmute. Can’t see myself, why can’t I be a full size panel? Jisti. Can’t dial in. Utterly useless for anyone with bad internet for this reason.

You can dial in (at least for a call on https://meet.jit.si https://meet.jit.si - I don't about self-hosted instances). Click the person symbol ('Invite more people') in the bottom-right of the window, and a modal dialog will appear with a phone number and PIN code to enter. If you click 'more numbers' you will be shown alternative phone numbers for many countries (UK, US, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Switzerland).

  I find the quality of google meet is variable, especially with lots of users on the call.

    I haven't had quality issues with Meet. The killer feature for me though is the seamless integration with calendaring--if you use GCal of course.

I'm actually always surprised how well AWS Chime [0] works. Probably because not too many people use it. [0]: https://aws.amazon.com/chime https://aws.amazon.com/chime

    Large parts of Amazon finally got the go-ahead to use Slack internally instead of Chime.

    But at least they're dogfooding – the feature list is really short, but the quality is always good. I also wouldn't want to use it as my only conference tool, but if zoom is down, it makes a good backup.

  Typically, FaceTime requires knowing people's personal contact info. Zoom,Google,etc have generic looking URL for people to join without giving up personal contact details. I don't necessarily need everyone I work with having my personal contact info.
